An die Geschichte mit dem Radio-Boykott glaube ich nicht. Hätten OMD eine Single herausgebracht, die auch nur halbwegs Hitpotential gehabt hätte, dann wäre sie auch gespielt worden - siehe Alphaville. Aber "If You Want It" und "Sister Marie Says" waren einfach nur müde Plagiate von alten OMD-Songs, und "HoM I" ist auch nur ein eher durchschnittlicher Popsong. Ich kann mir kaum vorstellen, dass irgendein Nicht-OMD-Fan eines diese Lieder im Radio hört und sich sagt: "Wow, was ist denn das für ein toller Song? Den würde ich mir gern kaufen..." Für mich fällt das neue Album in eine Kategorie mit "The Pacific Age": Eine eigentlich nette Platte, die aber nur einen einzigen Song mit echtem Hit-Potential enthält. Dieser Song ist "Pulse", und leider war man zu feige, ihn auszukoppeln, weil er zu OMD-untypisch klingt. Schade - meines Erachtens hat man hier eine große Chance vertan. Beim nächsten Album wünsche ich der Band jedenfalls ein glücklicheres Händchen bei der Auswahl der Singles.

Ich bin ja OMD sehr treu, aber keinem Radiosender. Ich hüpfe also ständig zwischen 12 Stationen hier in Berlin hin und her. Wenn überhaupt mal OMD zu hören ist, sind es nur alte Songs. Aber meine Mom, die da irgendeinen "Ältere-Leute-Sender" hört, ruft mich ständig an und sagt: "Hör mal da ist wieder die singende Nonne". Sie hört fast täglich "SMS", ist doch nicht normal. (Aber gut erzogen habe ich sie, wenn sie mich jedes Mal anruft oder?)
