Die 1981 ursprünglich für das "A & M"-Album aufgenommene Demoversion von "Telegraph" steht doch tatsächlich und unglaublicherweise auf Neil's "Motion & Heart"-Website KOMPLETT zum Anhören bereit :shock: :shock: :shock: :!: :!: :!:

Laut Kommentar von Paul Browne ist dies auch die Version, die auf der Remaster von "Dazzle Ships" veröffentlicht werden soll!

Und noch nicht genug:

Außerdem gibt es auf neil's Seite eine noch nie gehörte Demoversion von "Messages", sowie unter "Maid Of Orleans - MIXED DEMOS" eine Demoversion von eben diesem Song und von "Joan Of Arc" und eine weitere Version von "Telegraph".

ich finde, "maid of orleans"/ "joan of arc" und "telegraph" sind schon sehr nah am original, die demo von telegraph ist dagegen fast ein neuer song und einfach nur fantastisch! wenn ich sowas höre frage ich mich wirklich, weshalb diese band später teilweise so derart mainstreamige sachen gemacht hat. sie war 1981 schon weiter als `86 oder `91, als `93 sowieso! ;-)

ich freue mich auf die dazzle ships jetzt gleich doppelt so sehr! :D

allerdings finde ich nur eine version von telegraph, eben die, zu die der link führt. ich hoffe mal, dass die auch die sein wird, die dann auf dazzle ships erscheinen soll. :?:

Soooo neuartig (wie Arclad meinte) finde ich Telegraph gar nicht. Es ist irgendwie blos ne Stufe langsamer und Andy kniet sich beim Singen mehr rein..... klingt aber wirklich bombastisch.

Ehrlich gesagt finde ich die letztendliche DS-Version dann doch eine Spur besser, auf alle Fälle ist die wesentlich eingängiger. Die Demoversion klingt halt schon auch wie eben eine solche. Vielleicht muss ich sie mir aber nur noch öfters anhören. Etwas "roher" klingt sie schon, viel mehr Drums, klingt erdiger, hat mehr "Schmackes", fast schon etwas "alternativ" angehaucht. "Joy Division" - Jünger sind da dafür wahrscheinlich etwas aufgeschlossener als für die glattpolierte Endversion... :wink:

Aber hochinteressant und überraschend finde ich die teilweise völlig anderen Lyrics! Da wurde am Schluß ja nochmal kräftig der Rotstift angesetzt für DS.

Was ich allerdings überhaupt nicht erkennen kann ist eine Ähnlichkeit des Basslaufs mit dem von "Southern". Es heißt ja immer, für diesen Song wurde die ursprüngliche Bassmelodie von "Telegraph" verwendet... :o

mh, die ds-version gefällt mir von den 3 normal-langen versionen die ich kenne, eigentlich am wenigsten. wie du schon sagst, die ist sehr glattpoliert. mein favorit war bis gestern deshalb auch die version auf der ersten best of.

die hier gefällt mir jetzt noch besser, gerade weil sie roher und erdiger klingt. gerade die drums find ich hier wesentlich interessanter eingesetzt, vor allem in verbindung mit diesen fanfaren! tja, dann darf ich mich hier wohl eher zu den "joy division-jüngern" zählen ... :wink:

stimmt, beim text hat sich wirklich noch so einiges getan bis zur ds-fassung.
